Improved high gain observer design for a class of disturbed nonlinear systems

Abstract This paper provides a redesigned version of the Standard High Gain Observer (SHGO) to cope with peaking phenomenon occurring during transient periods as well sensitivity high frequency measurement noise. The observer design is performed for class uniformly observable systems noise free noisy output measurements and resulting referred Non Peaking Filtered (NPFHGO). NPFHGO shares same structure its underlying SHGO differs only by corrective term which still parameterized unique positive scalar up an appropriate expression involving nested saturations. Of fundamental interest, power parameter does not exceed one unlike in case where this grows from 1 system dimension. Moreover, it shown that equations become identical those after time horizon can made arbitrarily small sufficiently values parameter. A particular emphasis put on measurements.
